Photography Nights on Havergate
Our dusk to dawn adventures for photographers includes sleeping in tents
Experience an exclusive overnight workshop with a small group of photographers. You will have hours of landscape and wildlife observation with plenty of photographic opportunities in the fantastic light of afternoon to sunset, and breaking dawn to late morning.
With a bit of luck and fieldcraft you can get up close with some of the island's hares and they might allow us to photograph them in torch light as well. Award winning (Four Seasons Category, BWPA 2015) wildlife photographer Kevin Sawford will be on hand for mentoring, including mastering low-light photography, photographing moon and stars and capturing the hares with your camera without using flash. Please note using flash is strictly forbidden on all our Havergate Island events!
We will have exclusive access to the island for these nights, need a minimum of seven bookings and places are limited to ten participants. As it will be a very small group, we are happy to tailor the workshop and guiding to your expectations. Therefore, please let us know about your tuition preferences on the booking form below. You will have to bring your own equipment and can get help from Kevin for all camera types. Of course, experts are most welcome on these nights and they can explore the accessible part of the island on their own.
This will be a real adventure and you can choose to sleep in your sleeping bag either under the stars or in your own small tent.
You will need to bring your own snacks and drinking bottle. We will provide fresh drinking water, a selection of organic or Fairtrade teas, fresh filtered coffee and hot chocolate from the kitchen in the Warden's Hut throughout the event, serve a bowl of hot soup with a slice of bread for dinner and will offer a range of cereals with milk for breakfast. We can set up a stylish roadii fire grill for all to use in the evening, if there is demand for it.
You need to have a reasonable level of fitness for this trip as it requires getting on and off the boat and walking with your equipment on uneven, muddy or wet ground including in low light.
Price: £124 per person. We will have exclusive access to the island, need a minimum of seven bookings and places are limited to ten participants. Booking well in advance is essential. The fee includes exclusive admission, boat trip, hot drinks and cereal breakfast. Places are limited and booking in advance is essential.
Please email us your enquiry at Monika@WASuffolk.com with your details. Monika will reply within 48 hours to discuss possible dates and the payment options.
In adverse wind conditions, this event may be cancelled at short notice at the skipper's or organiser's discretion; in this case, you will get a full refund of your booking fee.
30% of the fees will go to the RSPB to fund nature conservation on the Suffolk coast. Please find more information about RSPB Havergate Island on www.rspb.org.uk/havergateisland.
